Representatives of the four Citizens’ Parliaments on Media and Democracy will present their resolutions in the EU Parliament in Brussels in January

On 13 January 2026, two representatives from each of the four Citizens’ Parliaments on Media and Democracy, Karin Aringer & Andreas Mutschlechner (Austria), Josef Tokár & Iveta Černá (Czech Republic), Niall Mahon & Moya Ní Cheallaigh (Ireland) and Milojka Doljak & Mirka Race (Slovenia) will present resolutions related to EU media policy in the European Parliament in Brussels.

MEPs Evelyn Regner (Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats) and Lena Schilling (the Greens/European Free Alliance) will respond to the presentations.

This roundtable, chaired by Helmut Peissl (COMMIT), is organized as part of the seminar, „Regulating Media for Future Democracies: Political and People’s Voices,“ which is hosted by Slovenian MEP Irena Joveva. It takes place within the framework of the MeDeMAP research project.

The event will explore ways in which Europe can strengthen democratic institutions through fair and transparent media frameworks. It also includes a roundtable on “the Next Steps After the EU Media Freedom Act” and the screening of the film essay Agon: Constructions of Democracy.
